![]() The only new chassis I've taken into combat thus far is the Vulcan. ![]() I'm also 4/7 pieces on the Phoenix Hawk which seems cool. If I could get that to 190-200t, I'd be a lot more comfortable. I need to have replaced at least the Firestarter and hopefully also the Vulcan before I get down to the big Heavy Metal flashpoint, because it says it has a "heavy" weight requirement(suggestion?), and my current drop lance is only 175t. I'm 4/7 on 4-5 decent medium chassis (50-55t), and I've completed 5-8 light mechs, but I'm already running a Firestarter in my 4th spot on my drop team, and it's by far the best light chassis already. I'm trying to do 4 (out of 5) level on salvage as long as they offer at least 3 pieces at level 4, but with stingy salvage, stingy mission pay, and 7 pieces to complete a mech, I'm still running basically the same lance I've had since they just gave me a random Vulcan. I'm slowly making my way down to the bottom of the map to do the Heavy Metal flashpoint, but it's slow-going. It was supposed to be 1.5 skulls, but there was a 2nd lance with 2 LRM-carriers and 2 strikers that were just hammering me from out of view distance, and they took down my Vulcan with its MCoil, 2xSL, 2XMG and I wasn't about to lose that due to bad intel. With the extra backer perks I chose and the Season Pass, I think I'm all in at around $175 now, and it's worth every penny. So far, the base game and the expansions have all been top notch. Also I've gone up against Archers and Warhammers, and both look great. I want to try as many of the new chassis as possible. I'm 6/7 pieces on a Phoenix Hawk, so that's exciting. Thanks for not spoiling that yet, by the way. I'm progressing nicely after about 10-12 missions, and I'm slowly making my way down to the start of the new Heavy Metal ultra-flashpoint or whatever down in the extreme periphery. I was able to put together a Firestarter, so I've been running 3 mediums and a Firestarter for most of the game so far, meaning I could immediately tackle most 2-skull missions. It gave me an Enforcer and a Centurion (AC10) out of the gate with a few light supporting mechs, and then they gave me the Vulcan almost immediately. 75-100% range increase I'd estimate.Īlso the starting mechs are much stronger than my last 4-5 career playthroughs. I'm not sure how much its chassis perk increases the range of support weapons, but it's significant. Also great for flanking runs around to the rear armor. Like, one-shot kills on most 20-25tonners or most of the way there on a 30-35tonner. I put the Coil laser on the Vulcan along with 2xSL and 2xMG and it just wrecks light mechs. Loved the "Hey, here's a free Vulcan, and a Coil-M, and a few other new weapons" thing that they didn't even bother explaining. But lance on lance or defense missions, this lance does terrible things to OpFor.įinally got a chance to sit down with this for the first time since Heavy Metal dropped. ![]() The only issues with this lance is on missions where you might want a bit of speed, like convoy raiding and some escort missions when I guess wrong where the convoy is going to spawn. Generally, high priority targets get dropped by this guy while the King Crabs clear everything else and the Atlas cleans up what they couldn't finish. 35% headshot chance with an pilot with 8 Tactics, though on lights, mediums, and a few heavies (Jagermech and the Thunderbolt that likes to store ammo in the CT) I go for the 91% coring shot to drop mechs in a hurry. While the King Crabs make dead mechs, this thing makes dead pilots. Rounding out this bunch is the Gauss marauder I described before 1x Gauss with 2 tons of ammo, and 2 ERLL but with the addition of a Rangefinder++ (125m view range) and a Ballistics Targeting Computer. I've only managed to field both these monsters at the same time for roughly the last 200 days, but dear gods do they make a lot of dead mechs. 2x Gauss with 3t ammo, LRM-20 with 1 ton of ammo, and 3 M.Lasers. The King Crabs represent an inordinate amount of time and C-Bills spent on gathering the required components to build not one, but two of these monstrosities. Dropped the AC-20 for ECM and more armor since it rarely came into play with the King Crabs near-by. The Atlas carries the 'Jesus Box' (ECM) and more or less sticks with the King Crabs poking at things with its L.Lasers and LRM 20's. I'm actually happy with my main lance right now Atlas-D(-DC), 2x King Crab, Marauder. With 15ish days left until the 'end' of the career run, I think its not going to happen. Having gone through every Black Market and Former SLDF Presence world, I couldn't find even a piece of one. This is, of course, one of the ones you acquire through the campaign but I'm going through my first career run, so no freebies. 1 mech off from completing my mechdex the Highlander 732b.
